Advice from SOC's; Teen Advice Column (Friends) Dear SOC's: Since I'm a Christian, should I only hang out with Christian friends? May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ. I'm also blessed with the opportunity to be a contributing writer to http://www.CalicintoRanch.com, http://www.OpenDoorMission.org, Full Spirit Magazine and http://www.JournEzine.com - wonderful ministries that reach others for Christ! SOC's: It is important to surround yourself with people who follow Jesus and live their faith for Him since hanging out with other Christians helps your own faith to keep growing. Your church and youth group are great places to develop friendships and grow in your faith.
However, just because someone at school isn't a Christian doesn't mean you shouldn't associate with them. You can show them the love of Christ with your words and actions, and you may not only make a new friend, but you may change their life for eternity!
The Bible tells us to be in the world, not of it. Even though we're around worldly things and people, we don't belong to the world and shouldn't be influenced by it. We should stay firmly rooted in Jesus and let our lights shine for those who are in darkness. How's YOUR light shining at school?!
