Crocodile Tears & Buffalo Wings

Crocodile Tears & Buffalo Wings
By Marilyn Schnepp

Have you ever heard

A sparrow complain

That robins sport red vests

While his suit's mundane?

And surely the burro

Has legitimate gripes:

When he says he "feels drab

Next to a zebra with stripes."

And what about the camel

With his crooked spine;

Surely you've heard him

Whimper and whine?

Have you heard the buffalo...

Moan and cry

As he begs God for wings

So he can fly?

Or the beaver wishing

For a bushy tail,

While the bushy-tailed fox

Wants a house like a snail?

No, my friend,

Nature's quite content;

It's only Human Beings

Who weep and lament.

We alter our hair color,

Tan or whiten our skin,

Then starve ourselves silly

Just to be pencil thin.

We pierce our navals,

Lips, tongues and eyes;

Plus dye, paint and tuck

Our hair, nails and thighs.

In fact, Man's so disgruntled

With "WHO" he is,

That God only knows

Which is a Mister or Miz.

Now, you and I know

We were formed out of sod;

And magnificently designed

In the very image of God.

So think for a moment...

How we must break God's heart

Every time that we alter

His best Work of Art.
